Picture looks great colors are bright for the money and 61 inches you cant go wrong with this TV. Havent had any problems with this TV. Bought off amazon first big electronic purchase form them. It came early delivery people were professional, saved me $300.
I have no extended warrenty and am screwed. After googleing the "shut-off" problem, I found out it is a common issue with ALL Samsung DLPs; which sometimes they can't fix. Google samsung DLP problems before buying. I own a Samsung 50 inch DLP. It was beautiful until I hooked my XBox up to it and almost the day after the warrenty was up, it broke.
Just get this TV, plug it in and enjoy. I have owned this TV since Oct of 2007 and I still enjoy it. I recommend buying a nice surround sound system and hook it up to the TV to get maximum enjoyment out of each and every movie. The only con about the tv is that the built in speakers suck. The DLP has great color and the picture in HD looks amazing. The great thing about a DLP is that you don't have to worry about doing any proper "burn in".
I'm learning to live with it, but it's annoying. I don't use the internal speakers or amp, so I can't attest to this unit's sound quality, but image quality is superb. the only cable going to the TV is a HDMI cable). This gets annoying.
Great TV. Other than that, great TV. Whenever I switch from the DTV to the HTPC (or to and fro any other component) the TV goes into "Searching for signal" for about 15 seconds. I've had this for several months now, and it produces a beautiful image, only slightly less "brilliant" than a LCD panel.
I currently have it connected to a Denon 3808 via HDMI, and all my other equipment is connected to the Denon (i.e. I had heard about a "darker band through the middle", but I haven't experienced that at all. The piano black finish is stunning, but does get smudged easily. The only complaint I have is that every time the input signal changes ever so slightly, the HDMI port switches to "searching for signal" for about 15 seconds.
Love watching sporting events on HD. Couldn't be happier with our new Samsung TV. Incredible color and clarity.
